How to Recycle Your Office Waste – For Free!

June 24, 2014 | Posted by Amy

Do you recycle your office waste ? Could you do it for free ?

What do you want the world to look like for your children – and your children’s children? We ask because this is a question that is foremost in our minds a lot of the time. Our world and what we do in it is a responsibility. It is our responsibility to ensure the resources at our disposal are used in a non-wasteful way. And when you are in the business of office supplies and office products, then there is a potential for a lot of waste. But there is also the potential for sustainability and exciting new recycling practices. We have all kinds of new initiatives to benefit the environment, the community and your business.

Closed Loop Recycling

Recently, we were asked to contribute an article to RE Magazine, a publication owned by one of Sussex’s leading law firm, Mayo Wynne Baxter. Our article focused on how to recycle your office waste and our closed loop recycling. For those of you who don’t know, closed loop recycling looks at the whole process – trees to paper, to end use to waste.

Recycling

Recycling has been one of our core services ever since we started up in business in 2008. We can pick up your waste paper at the same time as we drop off your office stationery. Then in turn we can return the waste paper to the mill for recycling. This paper is approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (the body which promotes responsible management of forests). Another bonus is reduced costs for businesses. Using recycled paper is obviously a virtuous “green” thing to do. But there are also knock-on benefits to a closed loop recycling system. Producing recycled paper uses 83 percent less water, 72 percent less energy and 53 percent less carbon dioxide in its production.

One Company Equals Fewer Vehicles

And if you have one company supplying office products AND offering to recycle your office waste, then there are fewer vans on the roads. Quality is obviously important – for us and for our clients. Recycled paper has come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years. Of course, some documents ought to be printed on brand new paper, but so many offices and businesses print out papers that are only intended for internal use – if a document does need to be printed out, why not print it out on recycled paper? Because recycling is so important to us, when we supply your office or business we provide the paper, toner and ink cartridge recycling service for free.

Have you ever wondered what happens to those toners? In February, for example, we collected and recycled some 148 used and empty units from our customers.

Spare Parts for Refills

We pass these on to a national environment waste company – most are dismantled for spare parts which can then be used for refills. The plastic cases are ground up and used for injection moulding (a process for making plastic goods).

Our mission

Red-Inc hope to be in business for years to come. We want to offer incredible office supplies and products at great prices. We offer unrivalled customer service and we want to promote business practices which put a precedent on the environment. Recycling and sustainability will never be an after-thought for us. We will continue to  seek out initiatives that fulfil that goal.
