At Red-Inc, we believe carbon neutral office deliveries shouldn’t cost the earth. Since we started the company in 2008, we’ve worked to radically reduce the number of customer deliveries, long before sustainability was high on most corporate agendas.
From the outset, we’ve encouraged clients to consolidate orders, reduce delivery frequency, and rethink the environmental cost of procurement. We’ve since taken this a step further by offsetting every delivery we make – supporting our long-standing vision for truly carbon neutral office deliveries.
Carbon Neutral Office Deliveries: Our Approach
Reducing delivery emissions has been central to our operations from the very beginning. We later built on this by introducing carbon offsetting to neutralise any remaining emissions from our logistics – a practice we’ve maintained ever since. Every delivery we make – from toner cartridges to ethical notebooks – is fully offset through carefully selected projects.
In 2023, one of our major legal clients adopted quarterly deliveries, significantly reducing their carbon impact without compromising efficiency. We support and encourage these kinds of changes wherever possible, providing tailored data, reporting, and guidance to help each client reduce their footprint.
Why We Chose Gold Standard
When it comes to carbon offsetting, credibility matters. We partner with Gold Standard, one of the world’s most rigorous and respected certification bodies. Co-founded by the WWF (a Red-Inc customer), Gold Standard projects are verified to deliver not just carbon removal, but also social, biodiversity and economic benefits.
Their high-integrity approach ensures that our offsetting goes beyond the bare minimum, driving real, traceable impact.
The Panama Reforestation Project
We currently support a Gold Standard-certified reforestation project in Panama. This ambitious programme transforms degraded pastureland in eastern Panama by planting native, biodiverse tree species on previously deforested land.
Over time, the restored forest will remove tens of thousands of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere, helping to address climate change at its root. But this project does more than just capture carbon:
– It strengthens biodiversity by reintroducing native trees and restoring wildlife habitats
– It helps secure climate resilience by protecting watersheds and stabilising soil
– It creates sustainable local jobs in planting, maintenance, and monitoring
– It supports long-term stewardship by engaging local communities in reforestation and land management
This is exactly the kind of impact we look for when choosing offsetting partners: measurable, meaningful, and multi-dimensional – and it plays a key role in delivering carbon neutral office deliveries.
Partnering with DPD: Low Emission Logistics
To keep our delivery emissions as low as possible before offsetting, we also work with DPD as our logistics partner. DPD is a recognised leader in sustainable delivery, with a strong ESG strategy that includes:
– The UK’s largest all-electric delivery fleet
– A commitment to be net zero by 2040
– Smart urban hubs that reduce congestion and pollution in city centres
– Real-time carbon reporting and continuous innovation in last-mile delivery
DPD’s environmental leadership helps us ensure that every parcel is delivered as responsibly as possible – and offsetting takes care of the rest.
Why It Matters
Long before carbon targets and ESG policies were widespread, we were already reducing deliveries and rethinking the environmental impact of office supplies. Through a mix of smart logistics, behaviour change, and best-in-class offsetting, we’re helping businesses move towards truly carbon neutral office deliveries – without the greenwash.
