Red-Inc achieves a World First with their SBTi validated Science-Based Net-Zero Targets.

Red-Inc are proud to be the world’s first stationery supplies company to have their emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Leading the way to a more sustainable future for their customers, their industry and showing other SMEs what’s possible.

Being a low-impact, sustainable stationery supplies company has been part of Red-Inc’s DNA since opening their doors in 2008. And it’s their longstanding commitment to sustainable practices is what allows them to lead the pack and make bold moves.

Their entrepreneurial spirit is what drives them and what set them to pursuing, and achieving, validated net-zero targets. Not just for their near-term targets but their long-term and net zero targets as well. It is a unique prospect for a small SME to travel this road, but it was one they felt was important.

Red-Inc’s targets align with the latest climate science, ensuring they continue to meet rigorous criteria for their sustainable ambitions. By setting science-based targets, Red-Inc is ensuring that their emissions reduction efforts are not only meaningful but also in line with the global imperative to limited global warming to well below 2ᵒC above pre-industrial levels, as outlined in the Paris Agreement.

Red-Inc are a business committed to delivering the best value-added service they can for their customers. Having validated scientific targets will give them a unique insight into their customers net-zero journeys and how they can help track the data and make tangible reductions. Especially when it comes to specific pinch points like identifying and reducing troublesome scope 3 emissions, which commonly make up to 70% of all companies’ emissions.

Red-Inc’s Founder, Adam Huttly, has expressed pride and enthusiasm for this major accomplishment for his small but mighty company. “At Red-Inc we believe in doing everything we can today to help protect tomorrow. This includes using the resources available to us to drive meaningful change. We recognise the urgency of addressing climate change for ourselves, clients and for other stakeholders and our validated targets are a testament to our dedication to using our business as a force for good.”

The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It’s focused on accelerating companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

This achievement underscores Red-Inc’s dedication to environmental responsibility for themselves and their customers. By embracing science-based targets, Red-Inc is setting an example for industry peers and inspiring collective action toward a low-carbon future.
